Starting

• Download
• Install GeneWeb program under GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows; on Mac, Linux or Windows using Docker; in CGI mode behind a web server, with HTTPS access.
• Configure:
  • a server (launch parameters for gwd)
  • operation of a base (parameters in a base_name.gwf file)
  • appearance of a base (templates)
• Start GeneWeb.

Use

• Data entry and update:
  • individuals and families,
  • merge duplicates,
  • enter dates.
  • declensions
• Wikitext syntax,
• Macros,
• Keyboard shortcuts.

Manage

• Import GEDCOM .ged or GeneWeb .gw databases with gwsetup or in command-line.
• Merge and split multiples databases.
• Clean, recover, rename or move, save, archive a database.

Technical annex

• Understand the gwd server.
• Understand homonym.
• Configure appearance:
  • cascaded style sheets (CSS)
  • header and trailer, lexicon
  • templates
• Configure operations:
  • configuration file .gwf
  • specific parameters for (for templm)
  • passwords for friends/wizards and access restrictions to databases
